For the purposes of obtaining sustainable water solutions using a combination of optimization and uncertainty assessment tools, models from disparate disciplines are being linked together. Data provisioning and integration for this modeling system is provided by the Object Modeling System (OMS) and eRAMS data services. Model integration is also provided by a combination of OMS, compiling projects together, and an open-source implementation of the parallel MOdel Data Passing Interface (MODPI). Documentation for MODPI can be found here:

Uncertainty Assessment Modeling Framework

  • A fine-resolution water allocation model (under development)
  • A fine-resolution model in Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT)
  • A groundwater model (MODFLOW)
  • A biogeochemical and crop production model (DayCent)
  • An integrated urban water management model (IUWM)

Optimization Framework for Sustainable Water Management

  • A coarse-resolution water allocation model (under development)
  • A coarse-resolution model in Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT)
  • A computable general equilibrium (CGE) model (using GAMS)
  • A multi-objective optimization engine (JMetal is under consideration)
