Transportation

Transportation layers are composed of data from the United State Geological Survey, The National Map, TIGER/Line data provided through U.S. Census Bureau, and road data from U.S. Forest Service. These features are associated with the transport of people or commerce and include the feature name or route designator, classification, and location.

Geographic Names

Standardized geographic names are sourced from the United States Geological Survey, The National Map Gazetteer which is based on Federal and national standards (ANSI INCITS 446-2008) for geographic nomenclature and the Geographic Names Information System (GNIS). This layer includes information about physical and cultural geographic features, geographic areas, and generally recognizable locational entities of interest to any level of government or to the public for any purpose that would lead to the representation of the feature in printed or electronic maps and/or geographic information systems. The dataset assigns a unique Feature ID, as a standard Federal key for accessing, integrating, or reconciling feature data from multiple data sets.

Governmental Boundaries

Governmental boundaries represent major major civil areas for the Nation, including States or Territories, counties (or equivalents), Federal and Native American areas, congressional districts, minor civil divisions, incorporated places (such as cities and towns), and unincorporated places. Boundaries are served from the United State Geological Survey, The National Map and are drawn from a variety of government sources.

Facilities

Facilities information are drawn from the structures category of geographic information from the United States Geological Survey, The National Map. The data include the name, function, location, and other core information and characteristics of selected manmade facilities as determined from the needs of disaster planning, emergency response, and homeland security organizations.
