eRAMS Data

The eRAMS GIS inteface includes point-and-click access to public base layers and datasets from multiple open-source data providers. You can upload, export, and modify data from these and other providers using symbology, heads-up digitizing, and creation of new layers from XY data. Time-series data can also be uploaded in table format and attached to features from a feature class dataset. The map canvas, labels and symbology can be customized to fit your needs.

Available Datasets & Layers

Base Layers

These are user selected representations of the land surface that can be viewed at multiple scales. Base layers form the foundation of a map and can be selected or deselected by clicking on the radio button next to each layer. These layers cannot be user modified and only one basemap can be selected at any time.

Geospatial (User) Layers

Created through export from Public Layers, addition from raster and vector geospatial files stored locally or found online, from heads-up digitizing, and/or from XY data organized in tables, geospatial layers have the greatest ability to be symbolized, analyzed, and modified.

Operations

Users can select from several common operations when working with layers in our GIS interface. Layers can be added, animated, organized, downloaded and extracted. Metadata can be generated and modified. Folders can be created, organized and shared. Users can create and manipulate layers made from existing table information with options to join information from features that are spatially related.

Properties

The GIS interface allows adjustment of feature layers to customize the map canvas display features. Users can modify layer opacity, set layer extent, modify symbology and set symbol properties. In addition shape and line properties can be modified and colors can be adjusted.

Public Layers

Public layers are sourced from publicly available national datasets and can be explored from the “Public Layers” tab located on the left dashboard. Each item listed is a collection of layers and can be selected or deselected through clicking the checkboxes next to each item. Data can also be extracted from public layers for further spatial analysis.

Time Series Data

Time series data can be added to a feature layer and viewed and/or modified. To add time series data to a feature layer, click on the layer of interest under the Geospatial/User/Project Layers tab to open the pop-up context menu. Click on Time Series Data to open the Time Series Data pop-up window.
