InTERFEWS Program Trainee Supply Funds Application

Each award year (August 2019 – August 2024), the NSF InTERFEWS NRT Program sets aside funding, a portion of the NSF NRT award for trainee support costs, specifically established for trainee research materials and supplies utilized for InTERFEWS-related research.

This funding is available to all InTERFEWS PhD students, regardless of whether you are a funded trainee. This funding, for research materials and supplies, is available on a competitive basis. Requests may only be partially funded, and the maximum amount that can be requested, on average, is $2,000 at one time. Amount of travel and supply funding provided to trainees vary by need, which will be explained through request form below. It is possible that additional funds may become available due to graduating trainees not spending their allotment, but is not guaranteed. Supply applications are reviewed every six months: January 15th and June 15th.

Please note: the amount to be reimbursed is limited to the amount awarded, or the lesser actual value. You will not be reimbursed for any amount over what you requested and, subsequently, for which you were approved. You will only be reimbursed for the actual amount spent. You may request for InTERFEWS to pay the costs directly rather than reimbursement, but you must work with the program coordinator to arrange the payment. Do not start making supply purchases until you discuss further details with the program coordinator to ensure CSU guidelines are followed correctly to ensure full reimbursement or coverage of costs.
