Volunteer to become an External Mentor

Interested in Mentoring?

Partners interested in becoming an external mentor for an InTERFEWS trainee are encouraged to submit using the form below. The external mentor will advise trainees on their research to include components that raise all pragmatic outcomes for Food-Energy-Water (FEW) topics related to their industry/organization. External mentors and trainees would meet (phone or in-person) 1-2 times per year to help evaluate the trainee’s progress and provide additional feedback. External mentors provide the potential to help further the interdisciplinary aspects of trainees’ research by bringing in ideas and insights from their professions. Additionally, if the external mentor agrees, a trainee may choose to include the external mentor on their dissertation committee.

The InTERFEWS program is currently limited to Colorado State University PhD candidates entering the 1st or 2nd semester (in a few cases, 3rd semester) of their PhD program. Selected cohorts will include both funded and unfunded trainees, with funded trainees receiving 2 years of funding.
